What are grits?
Maybe you got this far and you’re not even sure what grits are. We are here to help!
Grits are one of America’s (and maybe the world’s) oldest foods. Historians say that they date back to the 16th century, invented by the Native American Muscogee tribe in the Southeastern United States. The earliest recipes consisted of pretty simple ingredients: ground corn, water, and some form of heat.
Fast forward a few centuries, and grits haven’t changed much but they have gained new popularity among Southerners and beyond. We at Gritzy are honored to carry on the traditions of those who came before us with stone-ground corn, while also bringing them to more tables with easy prep.
